Cricket is Barbados' national sport. Barbados is one of the international capitals of cricket.
England has now announced its schedule for the 2019 cricket tour of the Caribbean which will begin in January with the first three Test matches. There will also be five One Day Internationals (ODI) and three Twenty 20 Internationals (T201).
The two month long tour will be the longest home series for the West Indies against England since 2009.
England will start their campaign with a 4 day warm up fixture at The Three Ws Oval.
Barbados, Antigua and St Lucia will host the Test matches as the teams compete for the Wisden Trophy.
Windies' last Test series victory against England was in 2009 when they won the five match series 1-0 at home.
The ODIs will be held at Barbados' Kensington Oval (1st and 2nd), Grenada's National Cricket Stadium (3rd and 4th) and St Lucia's Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium (5th ODI).
Joe Root's side will play Windies in Barbados (Jan 23-27), Antigua (Jan 31- Feb 4) and St Lucia (Feb 9-13). The tour will round down with five one-day internationals and three T201s (see itinerary below). Eion Morgan will lead England in ODIs in Barbados (Feb 20 and 22), Grenada (Feb 25 and Feb 27) and St Lucia (March 2).
The three ODIs will be followed by three T201s.
Johnny Grave, the Cricket West Indies' chief executive officer recently said:
